Reproductive Health and Birth Outcomes Indicators
Vital statistics data are used to estimate reproductive and birth outcome measures. Provisional data from the annual birth certificate file is available within four to six months after the close of the file. Reporting may be delayed when a state resident gives birth out of state.
Data about multiple births are not covered by the prematurity and growth restriction measures in the Tracking Network. They are covered by the mortality measures and by the fertility measure. They are not covered by the sex ratio at birth measure.
Rates of reproductive outcomes may differ across geographic areas due to access to care, level of care (e.g., tertiary care facility), maternal risk factors, paternal risk factors, and social disparities, to name a few.
The Iowa EHTP web portal includes data about:
- Prematurity among singleton births
- Intrauterine growth restriction Infant mortality
- Fertility
- Sex ratio
