An epidemiologist working at the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) is currently in Sierra Leone, aiding the CDC in its response to the Ebola outbreak - the largest Ebola outbreak in history, and the first in West Africa. Samir Koirala arrived in the city of Bo last week where he is working with local teams to coordinate outbreak care and prevention efforts with the CDC.
While Internet connections are spotty and communication with Iowa can be difficult, Koirala is making an effort to provide updates about his work in Sierra Leone whenever possible. You may follow his reports on the IDPH Facebook page at www.Facebook/IowaDepartmentofPublicHealth and on Twitter @IAPublicHealth #IaEpi.
