Healthy Iowa Award Winners Announced

Iowa Department of Public Health and Healthiest State Initiative Recognition

The Iowa Department of Public Health and the Healthiest State Initiative will recognize the outstanding achievements of schools, businesses, individuals, colleges, and universities leading Iowa’s charge in advancing well-being tonight during the Healthy Iowa Awards ceremony. The event will take place at the Historical Building in downtown Des Moines beginning at 6:30pm.

“These organizations are leading the charge in Iowa becoming the healthiest state in the country,” says Dennis Haney, Program Manager at the Iowa Department of Public Health. “It’s appropriate that we take a few minutes to congratulate and celebrate the sustainable environmental change they’re implementing.”

Top applicants demonstrated collaboration, high levels of engagement, and implementation of policy change to support wellness across multiple platforms and beyond the doors of the organization. “Many of these organizations take a holistic approach to health, providing a comprehensive network of information and programming supporting healthier living not only for their employees or students, but for their families and the community at large,” Haney says.
