Licensure Details — Requirements

Licensure Renewal

The 2012 session of the Iowa Legislature has enacted a license renewal extension valid until January 1, 2013 for certain individuals whose license(s) have lapsed.

The legislative language reads as follows:

House File 2465 Sec. 9.

PLUMBERS -- LICENSE EXTENSIONS. Until January 1, 2013, the plumbing and mechanical systems board shall grant a one-time renewal of an expired license if the person holding the expired license demonstrates successful passage of a municipal or block examination. For any licensee receiving a renewal under this section, the board shall clearly state in any correspondence for succeeding license renewals that the provisions of Code section 105.20 shall apply.

For qualified applicants, a renewal application must include:

1.) Completed Renewal Application

2.) Documentation demonstrating successful passage of a municipal or block examination for each trade that is to be renewed

3.) Appropriate late fee of $60.00 per expired license, payable by check or money order

4.) Evidence of completing all required Continuing Education courses for renewal of the expired license(s)

Licenses issued under this temporary provision will be issued from the expiration date of the original Plumbing and Mechanical Systems Board license.
