The Iowa Gambling Treatment Program provides outpatient counseling for families, concerned persons, and gamblers affected by problem gambling. Counseling services are provided to Iowans on a sliding fee scale. Transitional Housing facilities are available for problem gamblers at sites in Council Bluffs, Des Moines and Fort Dodge (see the www.1800betsoff.org Website for details). The program does not take a position either for gambling or against gambling. The program serves as a resource for all Iowans by providing information, referral, and educational services. Educational presentations on problem gambling can be arranged at no cost for schools, counselors, clergy, human resource personnel and other interested groups. Iowans can call 1-800-BETS OFF (1-800-238-7633), a 24-hour telephone toll-free helpline, to receive information on problem gambling, including a gambling treatment agency nearest to them.
