The Bureau of Environmental Health Services strives to provide technical assistance, information, and services to local environmental health departments, local boards of health, and all Iowans. Bureau staff are actively engaged in work related to hazardous spills, evaluation of waste sites, health education, emergency preparedness, Grade A milk inspection, swimming pool and spa safety, water fluoridation, food safety, grants-to-counties, healthy homes and several other areas of environmental health practice. Bureau staff also acts as a resource for new county environmental health professionals, and are available to local board of health members to provide education about the everyday impact of environmental health practice on all Iowans.
