Early Childhood Iowa  This item links to an outside page
Early Childhood Iowa is a confederation or alliance of stakeholders in early care, health and education systems that affect children age zero to five in the state of Iowa. Its purpose is to support the development and integration of an early care, health and education system for Iowa.

Empowerment  This item links to an outside page
Community Empowerment was founded on the premise that communities and state government can work together to improve the well being of our youngest children. Community Empowerment's efforts unite agencies, organizations and community partners to speak with a shared voice to support, strengthen and meet the needs of all young children and families. State funding for Community Empowerment has continually increased since its inception. These resources allow local boards to: expand home visitation and parent education; create quality improvement activities for child care and preschool providers, including professional development and training; increase the availability of infant, shift care and inclusive child care; and increase access to child care and preschools for children living in low income families.

Healthy Families America  This item links to an outside page
Healthy Families America is a national program model designed to help expectant and new parents get their children off to a healthy start. Families participate voluntarily in the program and receive home visiting and referrals from trained staff. By providing services to overburdened families, Healthy Families America fits into the continuum of services provided to families in many communities.

    Founded in 1975, Prevent Child Abuse Iowa's fundamental --- and critically important - mission is to end child abuse in the entire state of Iowa. Its single-minded focus on prevention is unique in the child abuse field, where most efforts involve counseling and treating children and families after abuse has already occurred.

ASQ is a low-cost, reliable tool for screening children for developmental delays during the crucial first 5 years of life. Parents complete the simple questionnaires, and the results alert professionals when a child needs more in-depth assessment.

Early ACCESS is Iowa's system of early intervention services for infants and toddlers with or at risk for developmental delays. With our dedicated staff of compassionate professionals, Early ACCESS Iowa can connect you to local children's healthcare providers within the Early ACCESS network.

Maternal Depression screening

It also includes a list of trainers available in Iowa that have completed the Maternal Depression Screening Train the Trainer workshops and the quarterly maternal depression newsletter.
