The goal of the refugee health program is to ensure a complete health assessment for each arriving refugee, and assist healthcare providers and refugees in managing identified health problems.
Program staff monitors health assessments and follow-up care, and provides necessary assistance. The completed Iowa Refugee Health Assessment form identifies medical test results, dental status, immunizations, and need for referral or follow up services. Information from this form is used for management purposes and to coordinate program activities.
