The Bureau of Professional Licensure is a Bureau within the Iowa Department of Public Health with 19 licensure boards regulating 39 professions. The mission of the professional boards is to protect the public health, safety and welfare by licensing qualified individuals and enforcing Iowa's statutes and administrative rules fairly and consistently.
Renew your license online!
Online license renewal is fast and safe! Click here to renew online up to 60 days before your current license expires and follow the directions. You will be asked to verify that you have met the continuing education requirements. You may renew your license for 30 days after your current license expires but will be required to pay a late fee.
Paper applications will NOT be mailed this year. Instead you will receive a postcard as a reminder it is time to renew the license. If you do not renew online you may download a paper renewal at this web site.

(2) Select Licensure from the drop down list at the top of this page under page navigation and click "GO"
(3) Select Renewal found in the gray box. From the Renewals page, download the renewal application. Please note our mailing address is located on the Renewal page, it is not on the renewal application.
How to file a complaint:
Professional licensing boards' primary responsibility is to protect the public through the licensure process. Complaints are a method of informing the board about a licensed or unlicensed individual's action. All licensing boards follow a uniform complaint procedure assuring confidentiality, efficiency, and accountability.

You may now verify and print the licensure status of professionals and establishments by following five easy steps.
Address and Name Changes
Select your board from the drop down list at the top of this page under board navigation and click "GO". On your home page, scroll down to Address and Name Change and click "GO". Follow the instructions.
Licensees must notify the board of a change of name or current mailing address within 30 days after the change occurs. Failure to notify the board of changes may result in your license being placed on inactive status.
To view disciplinary actions, navigate to the board page and select "Disciplinary Action" from the navigation drop-down menu.
